About Trident Marine Associates Michael Doyle (resume), a second-generation Chief Engineer, founded Trident Marine in 1999 while finishing a merchant marine career which eventually spanned thirty years, serving on over forty-five different tugs, coastal freighters and processing ships. Michael sailed as Chief Engineer from 1984 to 2004. In addition to his marine surveying practice, Michael is an Engineering/Operations Consultant for Stellar Seafoods, Inc. Michael served an 24-month apprenticeship under William Padie, one of the most highly respected marine surveyors in the Seattle area. Mr. Padie has been performing marine surveys for nearly 40 years. In 2001, and while still learning the “finer points” of the business, Michael gained Associate status in his relationship with W.H. Padie Associates. To compliment the mentoring relationship with Mr. Padie, Michael completed the 14-month, college-accredited Diploma Course in Marine Surveying, an internationally recognized qualification provided by the International Institute of Marine Surveyors and the National Sea Training Centre (UK). He earned undergraduate diplomas in Small Craft Surveys and Engineering Surveys (with Merit). Michael is an approved Auditor of The American Waterways Operators Responsible Carrier Program (RCP) and is authorized to perform the required external audits of AWO member companies' safety management systems, towing vessels, management and vessel personnel.
In 1999, Michael became a USCG-approved "Fishing Industry Vessel Examiner" and was authorized to issue USCG Certificates of Compliance and USCG safety decals for the required biennial examination of fish processing vessels and the voluntary safety inspection of all commercial fishing vessels. STAFF Our intent is to slowly and carefully expand the services we can offer to the market. In order to provide the high-quality service necessary to achieve our goals, our staff will be, very carefully selected based on their experience, integrity, and dedication to our principles. As of 2004, we remain a single-person entity and have no immediate plans to increase staff. However, we may be interested in supporting qualified marine industry professionals who wish to learn the business. Trident Marine continues to work closely with W. H. Padie Associates, and also has a network of other qualified experts to call upon where scheduling conflicts occur, and or, specialized knowledge is necessary. The experience and qualifications noted above, together with Michael's relative young age at 50 (in March 2007), places Trident Marine in excellent position to achieve our goal of becoming the industry leader among the next generation of marine survey firms. |
